Austrian Champagne, as this beverage was called back in 1842 , is being produced by bottle fermentation using only Austrian grapes and base wines. In the 300 years-old Schlumberger wine cellars, located in the Viennese district Heiligenstadt, sparkling delights are developing. At Schlumberger's one is very proud of this elaborate production method of riddling and they will show you the cellar-mark on the bottom of the bottle as the quality sign of this procedure. The strict quality controls and the careful handling result in an exceptionally light sparkling wine, famous all across the borders of Austria.
Take a guided tour through the impressive maze of wine cellars and learn about the history and manufacturing of sparkling wine and Champagne. You will also learn about its adequate storage. You will get to riddle the bottles on wooden racks, learn about the mysteries of "disgorging" and "dosage" and get to taste splendid wines.
